WHAT IS SELF-LOVE & HOW DOES IT BENEFIT US?
Self-love is about taking care of ourselves. Each of us is unique and special and wants to be treated as such. Being self-loving is about taking care of our bodies, mind and spirit as a whole. Treating ourselves like we would like others to treat us. Treating ourselves with love, kindness and compassion, just as we would treat those around us that we love. With that said, it isn’t always easy! We find it easy to jump and help others without thinking and possibly putting ourselves at the back of the queue with no time left for us! As they say on the airplane, put your own oxygen mask on first before assisting others.
How can we change that without feeling guilty? By noticing and accepting wherever you are and recognizing yourself as a beautiful loving being that deserves to be taken care of. Treat yourself like a mother treats a newborn who is innocent and pure. Laughing and playing are also helpful AND fun! I love to play on the swings and just be a big kid. I also love to go on a carousel anytime I see one!
We can care for our bodies by eating well, exercising and getting plenty of rest. Listening to our self-talk, what are you saying to yourself? Is it supportive and positive or is it negative and critical? Becoming aware of this and making new choices can be life changing both for ourselves and those around us. Having some quiet time to restore and rejuvenate the spirit is equally as important. Who has the time I hear you say? Taking just a few minutes here and there throughout the day to meditate and quiet the mind is a powerful gift to yourself. Even doing this when you wake up and/or before you sleep. Simply placing your hands on your heart and feeling the connection as you breathe slowly and deeply for a few minutes, can restore balance and assist with healing.
The benefits of self-love are priceless. Helps let go of negativity, blame, shame and anger. We can connect within and feel peaceful and calm. Life feels lighter and more fun, we feel happier. Feelings towards others change, relationships improve. Life becomes easier, we can laugh at our mistakes, inspire others with a new carefree attitude. Be become more creative and open to new experiences. We become more courageous as we grow into stronger beings with more confidence and life feels abundant and joyful. I invite you to try it!!!!
